The Jigawa State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on crime and drug abuse, arresting 153 suspects and seizing 13,078 illicit drug items in a coordinated, statewide operation.

According to reports, the simultaneous raids were carried out across all 42 police divisions in the state as part of efforts to dismantle drug networks and curb criminal activities linked to substance abuse.

Massive Operation Across Jigawa

Police spokesperson SP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the development in a statement, noting that the arrests were made during targeted raids on drug dens and criminal hideouts.

He said the suspects were apprehended for offences including drug peddling, possession of prohibited substances, and related crimes.

Recovered items from the operation include Exol and D5 tablets, Tramadol capsules, cannabis, and other narcotics. The police also confiscated a motorcycle and ₦228,570 in cash, believed to be proceeds from illicit drug sales.

Commissioner Commends Officers, Warns Criminals

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, praised the operatives involved for their professionalism and commitment to maintaining peace and security.

“This operation reflects our sustained effort to rid Jigawa State of drug abuse and related crimes. We will continue to adopt intelligence-led policing and collaborate with communities to enhance safety,” Muhammad said.

He further urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could help in tracking criminal elements.

“We encourage the public to report suspicious activities in their areas. Together, we can make Jigawa a safer place,” he added.

All Suspects Charged to Court

The command confirmed that all 153 suspects have been charged to court following the conclusion of investigations.

Police authorities emphasized that the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse remains a top priority, given its strong link to violent crime, theft, and other social vices in the state.

The CP reiterated that anyone involved in such criminal acts will be prosecuted without exception, warning others to turn a new leaf or face the full weight of the law.
