As Nigeria prepares for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and South Africa, Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has heaped praise on rising stars Felix Agu and Benjamin Fredrick.

The Super Eagles are set to face Rwanda on Saturday, September 6, at 5 p.m., followed by a key clash with South Africa next Tuesday. Both fixtures are vital for Nigeria’s qualification hopes.

Speaking after a recent training session under coach Eric Chelle, Iwobi, who plies his trade with English side Fulham, expressed admiration for the two young talents.

“We had a light training session, and I was really impressed with Fredrick and Agu,” Iwobi told Football Fans Tribe. “The manager knows their quality — there’s a reason they’ve been called up to represent Nigeria.”

He added, “My role is to make them feel welcome and confident. I want them to be comfortable and ready to showcase their talent for the Super Eagles.”

Meanwhile, defender Chidozie Awaziem is confident in Nigeria’s chances and has vowed that the team will push for all six points.

“Our mindset is simple — we’re going in to win,” Awaziem said in an interview with Victor Modo. “These are two tough games, but we are Nigerians. We have that fighting spirit.”

“We won’t back down. We’re fully committed to giving everything on the pitch. Fans should expect a team ready to go all out and secure maximum points.”
