Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has asserted that Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, is the sole active figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Fayose claimed that other ADC leaders and political figures are largely inactive and no longer relevant.
He explained, “Obi is the only life in ADC; the rest are semi-existent. Whether he had stayed in the Labour Party or moved to the Accord Party, he would still be the only active presence. All the others are old forces—they are not really existing.”
Fayose also reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election but insisted he has no intention of joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Openly, I supported Tinubu in 2023. I didn’t hide it. I remain consistent. I don’t switch sides. I have said it repeatedly: I am not an APC member, and I will never be,” he emphasized.
Further commenting on the state of Nigerian politics, the former governor described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as effectively defunct, stating that the party is “technically dead.”
Fayose also cautioned against implicating Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in the PDP’s challenges, noting that the governor should not be dragged into the party’s troubles.
