2027: Kwankwaso Sets Terms for Political Alliance Demands Presidential or VP Slot

The national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has outlined strict conditions for joining any political coalition or forming alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kwankwaso stated that while his camp remains open to merging with another party, such an arrangement would only be possible if the party is willing to offer him either the presidential or vice-presidential ticket.

Speculation has been rife that the former Minister of Defence is being courted by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which already boasts several high-profile presidential aspirants, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, and ex-Minister of Transportation Chibuike Amaechi.

Additionally, Kwankwaso is reportedly facing pressure from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the party and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

However, the NNPP leader appeared unyielding in his stance. Addressing his supporters in Kano on Saturday, Kwankwaso emphasized that any alliance must guarantee him a top-ticket position.

“We are exploring potential partnerships, but any party that wants to work with me must agree to give Rabiu Kwankwaso either the presidential or vice-presidential ticket,” he declared.

Kwankwaso previously contested the 2023 presidential election under the NNPP platform, finishing fourth behind President Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi.
