2027: We Won’t Repeat Rivers Leadership Error

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that the political “mistake” made in Rivers State will not be repeated ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike made the statement during a thank-you visit to the people of Khana in Bori, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he expressed appreciation for their support for him and President Bola Tinubu.

The former Rivers governor stressed that his visit was not politically motivated, but rather to acknowledge the community’s loyalty during challenging times. He noted that leadership should always reflect the will of the people, not personal ambitions.

According to Wike, Rivers State will adopt a different approach in 2027, insisting that past errors at the state level would be corrected when the time is right. He urged residents to remain united and follow the direction of their leaders.

Wike praised the people of Khana for taking a bold stand during the 2023 elections by supporting Tinubu when many others were hesitant. He said their decision has yielded tangible benefits, including improved road infrastructure and the establishment of the University of Environment, among other developments.

The FCT minister also revealed that Ogoniland has continued to enjoy increased federal appointments, with assurances that more opportunities are on the way due to President Tinubu’s goodwill.

He concluded by stating that Rivers residents would no longer vote strictly along party lines but would instead prioritise unity and development under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
