A 26-year-old New Orleans police officer, identified as Wildelis Rosa, has died just days after undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery in Miami, Florida.

Rosa, who also served as a US Army Reservist, had traveled to South Florida in mid-March to celebrate her birthday after recently returning from a deployment in Kuwait.

According to reports, she underwent pre-surgery tests on March 19 at Prestige Plastic Surgery Clinic before undergoing the BBL procedure the following day. The surgery, which cost $7,495, involved extracting fat from 12 areas of her body and transferring it to her buttocks.

Initially recovering in a rental apartment, Rosa informed her family about the operation three days later. However, her relatives grew concerned when she stopped responding to messages. On March 23, a friend staying with her found her collapsed in the bathroom. CPR efforts failed, and she was pronounced dead.

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner ruled her cause of death as a pulmonary embolism — a blockage in the lungs, recognized as a severe complication of cosmetic surgery.

Family members said Rosa had been in severe pain after the operation, experiencing breathing difficulties, low blood pressure, and numbness in her lower limbs before her condition rapidly deteriorated.
