A 28-year-old woman from Las Vegas, identified as Ahmonique Miller, has died just hours after undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure in Miami, Florida.
Miller traveled to Florida with her sister, Kiera Barnes, on March 5 to undergo cosmetic surgery at Avana Plastic Surgery. On March 7, she underwent both a BBL and liposuction.
Following the procedure, Miller was moved to Keyla’s Recovery House, a post-surgical facility later found to be operating without a license. Reports allege she was given unprescribed medication while recovering there.
Her sister said Miller was put to bed between noon and 1:00 p.m., but by evening she had not regained consciousness. Around 9:30 p.m., staff checked on her and found her unresponsive. Emergency services were called, and she was pronounced dead at 10:26 p.m.
When police arrived, Miller was discovered lying face down, bandaged, and already showing signs of rigor mortis.
An autopsy later revealed that she died from acute combined drug toxicity, raising questions about the medications administered at the unlicensed recovery center.
