After a period marked by steep increases, Nigerians are finally experiencing some relief as the cost of cooking gas begins to decline across the country. The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), which had recently surged to alarming levels, is now showing signs of moderation in many regions.

According to Gossip News Now, industry stakeholders have attributed the price drop to improved product availability. The Chairman of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Retailers Association of Nigeria, Ayobami Olarinoye, explained that increased circulation of the product has helped reduce the pressure that previously drove prices upward.

Reframing his position, Olarinoye suggested that while the situation is improving, the market has not yet returned to full stability. He noted that prices may still vary depending on location, but the overall trend points toward gradual normalization.

Government Steps In to Curb Exploitation

Amid the fluctuations, the Federal Government has taken a firm stance to prevent unfair practices in the market. The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, issued a warning to marketers against hoarding and artificially inflating prices.

He indicated that authorities are prepared to take action against any individuals or businesses found exploiting consumers during this period of adjustment.
