Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has dismissed widespread rumours claiming he has defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during a visit to the residence of Prof. Saasongo Nongu in Makurdi, Suswam described the reports as false and insulting, emphasizing that he is “too big a politician” to secretly abandon his party.
“I am too big to dump the ADC in secret. Leaving the party quietly would be the height of disgrace to my personality and a betrayal to my loyalists,” he said.
The former governor reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the ADC, stressing that he remains a proud and loyal member dedicated to strengthening the party’s presence across Benue State and Nigeria as a whole.
Gossip News Now recalls that Suswam had earlier debunked similar rumours through his media aide, Bede Bartholomew, who described the speculation as “baseless, aimless, and a lie from the deepest pit of hell.”
The rumours reportedly surfaced after Governor Hyacinth Alia invited key political stakeholders to a dinner at the Government House in Makurdi, which some online outlets claimed would serve as Suswam’s official entry into the APC.
However, Bartholomew clarified that the dinner had no political undertone, noting that Suswam’s attendance was simply a courtesy visit and not a sign of defection.
