The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection exercise in Anambra State, ahead of the November 8 governorship election.

The commission said the decision followed appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting additional time to enable more eligible voters to obtain their cards before the polls.

In a statement released on Monday, October 27, 2025, the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, confirmed that the exercise—originally set to end on Sunday, October 26—will now continue from Wednesday, October 29, to Sunday, November 2, 2025.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission has approved the extension of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards in Anambra State,” the statement read.
“The exercise covers individuals who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in the state.”

INEC urged all registered voters who have not yet collected their PVCs to take advantage of the extended window and visit any of the 326 designated registration areas across the state.

Eta-Messi emphasized that PVC collection is strictly in person, warning that no collection by proxy will be allowed.

She also expressed appreciation to residents for their cooperation, patience, and enthusiasm since the start of the exercise.

“INEC thanks the good people of Anambra State for their continued support and urges all eligible voters to use this opportunity to collect their PVCs and get ready to participate in the forthcoming governorship election,” she added.

Earlier on Monday, INEC reaffirmed that Anambra is fully prepared for the November 8 election following a week-long readiness assessment by a high-level delegation from its headquarters in Abuja, led by Prof. Rhoda Gumus, National Commissioner for Election Planning and Monitoring.

The delegation also included National Commissioners Sam Olumekun, Dr. Kenneth Ukeagu, and Dr. Baba Bila, who inspected facilities, logistics, and security arrangements to ensure operational preparedness ahead of the polls.
