FC Barcelona have officially announced that midfielder Pedri has sustained a hamstring tear in his left thigh, following his withdrawal during last weekend’s El Clásico against Real Madrid.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the club confirmed the extent of the injury and noted that the timeline for his return will depend on his recovery progress.
“The first-team player Pedri has suffered a tear in the distal biceps femoris muscle in his left thigh. The player’s recovery will dictate his return to action,” Barcelona said.
According to Spanish journalist Javi Miguel, the 21-year-old is expected to be sidelined for approximately three weeks, ruling him out until after the November international break. Earlier reports from Cadena SER, however, estimated a longer recovery process of up to five weeks.
Pedri has been a key figure under coach Hansi Flick this season, starting 13 matches and scoring twice — against Levante and Girona. Prior to the injury, he had missed just one fixture under Flick, featuring in 72 of the club’s last 73 games.
The setback comes at a crucial period for Barça, who are balancing La Liga and UEFA Champions League commitments and currently trail Real Madrid in the league standings.
