Real Madrid have been dealt another injury concern ahead of Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool, with young Argentine midfielder Franco Mastantuono ruled out due to a groin problem.

The club confirmed on Monday that the 18-year-old has been diagnosed with pubalgia — a condition that causes pain in the lower abdomen and groin.

“Following tests carried out today on Franco Mastantuono by Real Madrid’s medical department, the player has been diagnosed with pubalgia. His recovery will be monitored,” the club statement read.

Mastantuono impressed during Madrid’s 4-0 win over Valencia last weekend, earning praise for his maturity and technical quality. His absence is a setback for coach Xabi Alonso, who has been gradually easing the teenager into first-team action this season.

Madrid’s injury list doesn’t end there. Defenders Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rüdiger and David Alaba all missed training on Monday as they continue battling fitness issues, leaving their availability against Liverpool uncertain.

Despite limited appearances following the return of Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga, Mastantuono remains one of Los Blancos’ brightest young prospects and a long-term part of the club’s plans.

The squad will depart for England later today after completing their session at Valdebebas, opting not to train at Anfield. Alonso will address the media upon arrival alongside a player representative.

The highly anticipated Champions League tie kicks off at 9 p.m. Nigerian time, with Madrid looking to maintain their European momentum despite mounting injury worries.
