The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in all 25 local government chairmanship positions in the just–concluded council elections held in Niger State on Saturday.

The Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) also confirmed that the ruling party won 271 out of 274 councillorship seats across the state, further strengthening its political hold in the region.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Operations, Barrister Mohammed Liman, the commission said the results were ratified after collation and verification processes were completed in all council areas.

“After a thorough review, the Commission ratified the results, confirming candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winners in all chairmanship positions,” Liman stated.

He listed some of the elected council chairmen, including Dr. Mustapha M. Jibrin (Chanchaga), Usman Manko Mohammad (Bida), and Sayuti Ibrahim Halilu (Agaie), among others.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured only two councillorship positions in Tafa and Rafi LGAs, while one ward result was declared inconclusive pending further review.

Liman noted that the commission followed electoral regulations and guidelines throughout the exercise, adding that returning officers submitted their final reports with no record of major disturbances.

NSIEC also announced that preparations are underway for the issuance of Certificates of Return to all elected chairmen and councillors, with stakeholders expected to be informed of the date in due course.

The commission commended security agencies, observers, political parties, the media, and voters for their cooperation and peaceful conduct during the election.
