Katsina United chairman, Surajo Umar, has expressed confidence that the club can secure a continental ticket this season following their impressive away performance against Shooting Stars in Ibadan.
The Chanji Boys have shown mixed form in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign, registering five wins, one draw, and five losses in their opening 11 fixtures. Their latest 1–1 draw at the Lekan Salami Stadium lifted them to 10th place on the league table with 16 points.
“First, we thank Almighty Allah for the point, and I must commend my team for their fighting spirit from start to finish,” Umar told the club’s media after the match. “We are moving gradually up the table, and I believe we can secure one of the continental slots this season.”
In recognition of the team’s determination, Katsina State Sports Commissioner, Surajo Yazid Abukur, and club chairman Surajo Malumfashi jointly rewarded the players with a ₦520,000 cash bonus for securing the hard-fought draw away from home.
Abukur lauded the team’s discipline and resilience, pledging continued government support to ensure Katsina United remains competitive throughout the 2025–2026 NPFL season.
“The players have shown real commitment and growth. We’ll continue to support them so they can keep improving and push for higher achievements,” Abukur assured.
With renewed motivation and financial encouragement, Katsina United now aim to build on their momentum as they continue their quest for a top-tier finish and possible continental qualification.
