A Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match between Katsina United and Barau FC descended into chaos on Saturday at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, leaving Barau forward Nana Abraham with a deep neck injury.

The incident occurred shortly after Barau’s Orji Kalu scored a 69th-minute equaliser to level the match at 1-1.

In a post on X, Barau FC confirmed the attack:

“70’ The match is temporarily halted following an attack on Barau FC player, Nana Abraham. Katsina United | 1-1 | Barau FC.”

Just moments before, the club had celebrated the equaliser:

“69’ Goal! Orji Kalu levels the scores. Katsina United | 1-1 | Barau FC.”

Photographs circulating on social media showed Abraham bleeding heavily from a visible gash on his neck, as match officials and teammates struggled to contain the chaos on the field.

Security personnel quickly intervened, and the game was temporarily suspended to restore order.
