Barau FC forward Nana Abraham has revealed that he is feeling much better following the injury he sustained during the heated Matchday 12 encounter against Katsina United.
Gossip News Now reports that tensions erupted at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium after Barau’s Orji Kalu scored a 69th-minute equaliser, sparking unrest among fans. The match was temporarily halted as security intervened before resuming to end 1-1.
“I’m feeling much better now. The medical team did an excellent job treating my injuries,” Abraham told the club’s media team.
He expressed disappointment over the violent incident, urging fans to maintain fair play. “It’s really unfortunate what happened. Football is not a war — you win, draw, or lose. In our five home games, we’ve won once, drawn three, and lost one without any incidents. So why attack us now?” he said.
Following the incident, the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fined Katsina United ₦9 million and ordered the club to host the remainder of their home matches in Jos behind closed doors.
Meanwhile, in Lafia, Nasarawa United head coach Mbwas Mangut voiced frustration after his team was held to a 1-1 home draw against Kwara United.
An early strike by Anas Yusuf in the 2nd minute gave the Solid Miners a flying start, but Aule Johnmark’s equaliser in the 36th minute denied Nasarawa the full three points.
“This is a disappointing result. Dropping points at home is painful, especially considering our performance so far and the expectations of our fans,” Mangut told the club’s media team.
The coach attributed the draw to player fatigue after a demanding schedule. “The team was exhausted. We’ve had multiple games in a short span — away in Port Harcourt, Thursday in Lafia, and now again today. The intensity and energy weren’t at the usual level we’ve shown in previous matches,” he explained.
Despite the setback, Nasarawa United maintain their position at the top of the NPFL table, continuing their strong start to the season.
