Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has praised a Nigerian Navy officer, Lieutenant A.M. Yerima, for his actions during a recent incident in Abuja.
Gossip News Now reports that her remarks follow Tuesday’s confrontation between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Lieutenant Yerima over a disputed piece of land in Abuja, reportedly linked to former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Zubairu Gambo.
In an Instagram story post, Jegede described the officer as a symbol of a “new Nigeria” and lauded him for renewing her faith and hope in the country.
She wrote: “The face of a new Nigeria… Thank you for restoring my faith. Thank you for giving us hope as a nation. Thank you for showing that all hope is not lost. I salute you, sir. AM YERIMA, NIGERIAN NAVY.”
Her tribute comes amid widespread public reaction to a viral video capturing a tense exchange between the FCT Minister and the naval officer at a construction site in Gaduwa District, Abuja.
In the footage, Wike accused the officer of unlawfully preventing his access to the property while emphasizing that no one is above the law.
Lieutenant Yerima, however, maintained that he was following instructions from his superiors, resulting in a standoff that has sparked debate across social media and the public sphere.
