Tacha Sets Two Guinness World Records for Makeup Feats

Nigerian media personality and entrepreneur Anita Natacha Akide has achieved international recognition after completing an extraordinary makeup challenge that earned her two new titles from Guinness World Records.

The achievement places the reality television star among a select group of Nigerians who have set globally recognized records through creative and endurance-based challenges.

According to Gossip News Now, the historic attempt took place in Lagos on October 11. To make the event interactive, Tacha performed the makeovers in a specially arranged glass-enclosed station so spectators could watch every step of the process.

Throughout the intense challenge, participants lined up to receive professional cosmetic transformations performed by the former reality show contestant. The event required exceptional stamina, concentration, and time management.

The numbers achieved during the marathon session were remarkable. Within just eight hours, the beauty entrepreneur had already completed dozens of transformations before pushing through the remainder of the 24-hour challenge.

By the end of the attempt, the tally had grown significantly beyond the previous benchmark. Her total of 144 completed makeovers surpassed the earlier record previously held by Sierra Leonean makeup artist Mary Yongai.

Every participant received a full cosmetic routine rather than a basic touch-up. The beauty sessions included several steps commonly found in professional makeup artistry:

  • complexion coverage using foundation and concealer
  • enhancement with blush and finishing powder
  • eye styling through mascara and shadow application
  • lip detailing with liner and gloss
  • eyebrow grooming and shaping

Completing such detailed work for more than a hundred individuals within a single day required both technical efficiency and physical endurance.

However, the journey to the record was far from smooth. Unexpected environmental challenges threatened to disrupt the entire event. A heavy storm lasting several hours struck during the challenge, damaging equipment and promotional displays around the venue.

In addition to the weather conditions, power outages created further difficulties. At one point, members of the team resorted to using mobile phone flashlights to keep the makeup station illuminated.

Despite the obstacles, Tacha and her support team continued working through the night without stopping, determined to complete the challenge within the official time frame.

Eventually, the effort paid off when Guinness World Records confirmed the results and officially recognized the accomplishment. The organization validated the figures and awarded Tacha two record titles linked to the number of cosmetic makeovers performed within the allotted period.

Following the announcement, the reality star shared her excitement with fans online. She described the achievement as both exhausting and deeply fulfilling after hours of relentless work.

Tacha also used the moment to send a message of encouragement to young creatives across Africa. She explained that the record represents more than a personal achievement—it is meant to inspire others to pursue ambitious goals and showcase their talents globally.

Commentary and Analysis

The record highlights the growing influence of Nigeria’s beauty and creative industries on the international stage. Over the past decade, Nigerian creatives—from makeup artists to fashion designers—have gained increasing recognition worldwide.

Tacha’s accomplishment also demonstrates how public challenges and endurance records can bring attention to artistic professions often overlooked in global competitions.

Beyond the numbers, the event reflects the determination and resilience required to transform creative skills into historic achievements. By overcoming weather disruptions and technical setbacks, the record attempt illustrates how persistence often defines success in high-pressure situations.

As more African creatives gain international visibility, milestones like this may encourage a new generation of artists to aim for global recognition.
