The mother of Big Brother Naija Season 10 champion, Imisi Ayanwale, has responded to allegations that she deserted her daughter and resurfaced only after Imisi gained fame and fortune.
Gossip News Now reports that the controversy erupted online following claims that she had distanced herself from her daughter and came back into the picture after Imisi’s rise to prominence.
In a widely circulated video, she expressed gratitude to God and to Nigerians who supported her throughout difficult moments.
She explained that she has been living quietly with her younger sister in Ajah, where she received kindness from people who showed her hospitality, offered her assistance, and provided her with food and clothing.
According to her, she remained at peace throughout the period, despite harsh criticism.
Reacting to accusations of abandonment, she said her silence was deliberate and guided by wisdom, not an admission of wrongdoing.
She said she learned about Imisi’s win only a few hours before the announcement and therefore had little opportunity to make proper preparations.
She ended her message by urging the public to show compassion and avoid spreading negativity.
She said:
“I’ve received God’s mercy. I’m truly grateful to Nigerians for their love. I’ve been staying with my younger sister in Ajah. Some people didn’t want me there, but others embraced me, gave me clothing, food, and support. I have been peaceful and content.
“Many accused me of neglecting my children. I appreciate both those who speak kindly and those who don’t. Our elders teach us to listen more than we speak, and the Bible reminds us always to stand for the truth.
“Adeola, who made promises that day, is no longer in the picture, and now fingers are pointing at me. That same Adeola is following Opeyemi now; she didn’t fulfill any of her promises. I was the one running around doing everything possible to ensure my daughter succeeded and could uplift me from poverty.
“Even the day I went to Big Brother, I was only informed around 4 p.m. that Imisi would be leaving the house. Is that the proper way it should be done?
“We must learn to control our tongues and stop destroying one another. Why can’t we live with love instead of envy and bitterness?”
