Dr. Wole Oluyede, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, has commended the party’s decision to expel former governor Ayodele Fayose.
Speaking to journalists after a PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Ado-Ekiti, the Australia-based medical doctor insisted that Fayose must take responsibility for actions that allegedly undermined the party over the past three years.
Oluyede stressed that the PDP would not allow Fayose to derail the structure being built by party leaders to secure victory in the 2026 governorship election.
He confidently declared that the PDP in Ekiti remains united, intact, and stronger than ever despite Fayose’s purported anti-party activities.
The governorship candidate also called on the Tunji Odeyemi-led State Executive to establish a reconciliation committee to address aggrieved aspirants who lost the primary election to him, as well as other party members who feel dissatisfied for various reasons.
“Parties always have issues anywhere in the world—that’s why they are called political parties. I have no problem with the national crisis; I am not running for national office. All I need is the support of Ekiti people, and that’s what we will get,” Oluyede said.
He added, “If you have been a leader for eight years and people depend on you, you shouldn’t sell them short. Fayose has a choice—he can come back, and we will welcome him. But if he chooses to stay out and tries to bulldoze the party, we will not allow it. If he throws dirt at us, we will send it back. Nobody builds a house and then brings a bulldozer to destroy it.
“Thank God, he hasn’t been able to pull us down. We are building, we are getting stronger, and there is no faction in this party.”
