Buba Galadima, a senior chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government of prioritizing political maneuvers over tackling Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.

Speaking on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ on Monday, Galadima said the administration is more concerned with receiving defectors than safeguarding citizens.

According to the NNPP Board of Trustees member, governance requires serious commitment, and leaders at all levels—federal, state, and local—must take proactive steps to protect lives and property.

“The Federal Government has given 99% of its time to politicking,” he said.
“Governance, especially in a country like Nigeria, is a serious business. It’s not about how to make money, but about the sacrifices leaders are willing to make for the people.

“If you are a Nigerian president, governor, or even a local government chairman, you shouldn’t have more than six hours for leisure. The rest must be spent actively working. That is not what we are seeing.

“This government is only focused on receiving defectors or trying to destroy opposition political parties. Let them know: it is not in their interest to eliminate opposition. Without opposition, there is no democracy.

“Without democracy, we slide into fascism and dictatorship. They must put on their thinking caps and do the necessary work to protect lives and properties.”

Galadima’s comments underline concerns that political rivalry is overshadowing critical governance responsibilities, particularly in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
