The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) have jointly suspended Nollywood actor Taiye Arimoro following an altercation on a movie set involving actress Peggy Ovire.
AGN President Emeka Rollas announced the suspension in a statement posted on Instagram on Friday.
Rollas explained that the decision was taken “from responsibility, compassion, and a desire to restore trust” within Nollywood, adding that the guild operates as a family where the safety and well-being of members must always come first.
According to the joint disciplinary report dated 27 November 2025, all three guilds reviewed committee findings and determined that Taiye Arimoro was the primary aggressor in the incident.
The investigation concluded that Arimoro assaulted both the production manager and the driver on set, and later circulated a misleading live video that distorted the events. The video also falsely implicated producer Peggy Ovire, who was not present during the initial confrontation.
As a result, the guilds issued a unified directive suspending Arimoro from all Nollywood productions until further notice.
Under the sanctions, Arimoro is expected to:
- Tender a public apology to the production manager, Peggy Ovire, and the director.
- Release a corrective video explaining the true sequence of events.
- Return to set to complete his remaining scenes under strict supervision.
- Comply fully with any additional instructions issued by the guilds.
Emeka Rollas, while sharing the suspension documents, wrote a heartfelt message emphasizing unity and accountability within the industry.
He stated:
“My heart is deeply connected to the well-being of every actor who calls this Guild home. I endorse this step not just as a leader, but as someone who understands the struggles, sacrifices, misunderstandings, and silent battles our members face every day.
This decision comes from a place of responsibility, love for our industry, and a genuine desire to heal, restore trust, and strengthen the bond we share as one family. AGN is more than a union—it’s a community with dreams, fears, hopes, and expectations, and every action we take must protect that.
We are listening. We see your concerns. We feel your frustrations. And we remain committed to doing what is right, even when it is difficult.”
Rollas reaffirmed his commitment to lead with transparency, compassion, and fairness, assuring members that the guild will continue to protect the dignity and safety of every actor.
