Two members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing persistent internal conflicts and leadership failures within the party.

The lawmakers — Shamsudeen Hassan Basko, representing Talata-Mafara North, and Nura Dahiru, representing Birnin-Magaji — announced their exits in separate letters dated December 3.

According to Gossip News Now , the Speaker of the House, Bilyaminu Moriki, formally read the resignation letters during plenary.

Basko, in his letter, said he could no longer remain in a party beset by unresolved disputes, weak leadership structures, and the continued marginalisation of members at both state and local government levels.

“The persistent crises, internal divisions, poor leadership, and the sidelining of members prompted my decision to leave the APC,” he wrote, adding that the party no longer aligned with his political principles or the interests of his constituents.

Dahiru, in his own letter, said leaving the APC was necessary for him to better pursue causes that reflect the true aspirations of the people he represents.

“My departure from the APC will allow me to pursue causes that better represent the aspirations of the people I serve,” he stated.

Shortly after tendering his resignation, Dahiru formally announced his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State.
