Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has expressed deep concern over a wave of death threats allegedly directed at his wife, Natasha, following the circulation of videos showing the couple’s altercation in London.

This development comes after the Idibia family filed a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, accusing Natasha of assault and unauthorized access to the singer’s finances.

In the petition dated November 12, the family urged authorities to investigate incidents they claim caused 2Baba emotional distress, financial losses, and reputational damage. They alleged that reports from the singer and other witnesses pointed to physical assault in both the UK and Abuja.

The petition also accused Natasha of transferring money from 2Baba’s phone and bank accounts without permission and withholding his personal documents—including his passport—allegedly disrupting his business commitments.

Reacting in a video posted on Friday, 2Baba said his family has “destroyed” him and unfairly smeared Natasha’s image. He stated that the situation had spiralled out of control and that he could no longer remain silent.

He maintained that he is an adult capable of making his own decisions and insisted that disagreements in a relationship are normal.

Part of his statement reads:

“This whole situation has gotten dangerously out of hand. Natasha is getting death threats. I will not stay silent anymore. I’m grown and have the right to do what I want and be with whoever I want.
My family, who claimed they wanted to save me, have actually destroyed me and damaged someone’s daughter’s character.
Natasha and I have had a quarrel—tell me who doesn’t quarrel with their spouse? Things are getting out of hand, but I am perfectly okay. My family also did this same thing with Annie.”
