Ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Accord Party has approved a new Caretaker Committee to lead its Osun chapter.

The committee, now headed by Pastor Victor Akande, was inaugurated following the expiration of the previous leadership’s tenure.

According to Gossip News Now , the NEC also ratified the Electoral Guidelines for the upcoming governorship primaries in Osun State, signaling the party’s readiness to begin full preparations for the 2026 poll.

As part of these preparations, the council set up an Electoral Committee to supervise the party’s primaries. The NEC expressed confidence in Accord’s prospects, saying it is optimistic about winning the 2026 election.

The council further granted a general waiver to many newly registered members who intend to contest elections under the party’s platform, a move aimed at promoting inclusiveness and broadening its electoral base.

Additionally, the NEC approved the creation of Women and Youth Directorates at all levels—national, zonal, state, local government, ward, and polling units. These directorates, it said, will boost membership recruitment and strengthen grassroots mobilisation across the country.

In a show of unity, the party also lifted the suspension of several Osun members as part of its efforts to consolidate ahead of the governorship race.

The NEC concluded its meeting with a vote of confidence in Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, reaffirming him as the National Chairman of the party.
