Technical adviser of Enugu Rangers, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has responded to circulating rumours suggesting he may be preparing to leave the club.
According to Gossip News Now, reports earlier in the week hinted at possible disagreements within the Rangers’ coaching setup, leading to speculation that the former MFM FC manager could be considering stepping down.
However, Ilechukwu has firmly denied those claims, describing them as unfounded and insisting that his commitment to the Enugu-based side remains unchanged.
While speaking with journalists ahead of the club’s upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture, the coach emphasized that he is focused on fulfilling the agreement he signed with the team.
He also pointed out that throughout his managerial career he has consistently honoured his contracts with the clubs he has worked for.
According to him, there is no truth to the suggestion that he is planning an early departure from Rangers.
The Flying Antelopes are preparing for an important Matchday 16 encounter against Bayelsa United, which will take place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
A positive result in that game could help strengthen the team’s position as they aim to move closer to the top of the NPFL standings.
Gossip News Now reports that attention is also turning to another Matchday 16 fixture involving Kwara United, who will face Niger Tornadoes under challenging circumstances.
The Ilorin-based side will be without three important members of their squad due to injury problems.
The players currently sidelined include:
- Aliyu Salaudeen
- Issa Gata
- Shola Abdulraheem
All three are undergoing treatment, although club officials have not publicly disclosed the exact nature of their injuries.
These absences come at a difficult moment for the Harmony Boys, whose recent league form has raised concerns.
In their last four matches, the team managed to collect only two points, drawing against Shooting Stars and Nasarawa United while failing to secure a victory.
Head coach Suleiman Ashifat will therefore be hoping his side can rediscover their winning rhythm when they take on Tornadoes at the Rashidi Yekini Stadium.
The encounter also carries an additional motivation for Kwara United.
Last season, they suffered a 2–1 defeat against Niger Tornadoes in the same fixture, and the team will be eager to turn the tables this time around.
Commentary and Analysis
The dismissal of exit rumours by Fidelis Ilechukwu highlights the intense scrutiny that often surrounds football managers, particularly when teams experience internal speculation or inconsistent results.
In competitive leagues such as the NPFL, even minor reports of disagreements within a coaching staff can quickly evolve into widespread rumours about a manager’s future.
For Rangers, maintaining stability on the technical bench could be crucial as the club pushes for stronger performances during the current season.
Meanwhile, Kwara United’s injury concerns illustrate another common challenge in league competitions: squad depth.
Missing several key players can significantly affect a team’s tactical options, especially when recent results have already placed pressure on the coaching staff.
The upcoming fixtures could therefore play an important role in shaping the momentum of both teams as the NPFL season progresses.
