NPFL Results: Enugu Rangers Dominate Mbaoma Secures Victory for Remo Stars

Enugu Rangers lit up the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday with an emphatic 4-1 win over Bayelsa United.

Rangers were on the front foot from the start, with Chidozie Iwundu opening the scoring after just ten minutes. He doubled his tally seven minutes later, exploiting Bayelsa’s defensive lapses. Kenechukwu Agu added a third before halftime, finishing a clever build-up, and Chimobi Igwilo completed the rout. Bayelsa’s Issah Yusuf scored a consolation in the first half.

The victory lifts Rangers to fourth place in the NPFL table, with 25 points from 16 matches.

In Abeokuta, Victor Mbaoma showcased his quality against former club Enyimba, scoring in the 3rd minute from a Chigozie Chilekwu cross. Enyimba responded in the 32nd minute through Edidiong, who converted a run by Chidera down the wing. Just before halftime, Mbaoma scored again from a well-placed free kick by Haruna Hadi, securing a 2-1 lead that Remo Stars held onto. Mbaoma was substituted late and received a standing ovation as Adam Goita replaced him.

Other Matchday 16 highlights included:

Kwara United defeating Niger Tornadoes 2-0 with goals from Bright Babatunde and an own goal.
Kano Pillars edging Kun Khalifat 2-1, thanks to a brace from Rabiu Ali, including a penalty.
Plateau United narrowly beating Warri Wolves 1-0 via an own goal; Vincent Temitope and Gift David were both sent off in the 86th minute.
Abia Warriors drew 1-1 with Rivers United, as Suraju Lawal scored a late equalizer.
Wikki Tourists and league leaders Ikorodu City played out a goalless draw.
El-Kanemi Warriors and Barau also shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw.

League Standings Update:

Ikorodu City remain top with 28 points.
Nasarawa United and Rivers United are on 27 points each.
Enugu Rangers sit fourth with 25 points.
Remo Stars are ninth with 22 points.
Bayelsa United drop to 14th with 20 points.

Rivers United will also complete two outstanding fixtures, beginning against Plateau United on Wednesday before travelling to Kano to face Barau on December 18.
