Rita Daniels, mother of Nollywood star Regina Daniels, has failed in her bid to become president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
Gossip News Now reports that she was among the top contenders in the election held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, which produced a successor to outgoing president Emeka Rollas.
Her major challenger, the current National Secretary, Abubakar Yakubu, emerged victorious.
The result sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users saying they were unsurprised by the outcome.
See some reactions below:
- sylviasylvia853: “She was never going to win when her ex-son-in-law is financing the board.”
- blackonye2: “She’s not supposed to be there. She’s not qualified.”
- manarisa_1: “After breaking EPA’s heart? No, na. We already knew they wouldn’t let her win.”
- Emiliaakpabot: “There was no way she was going to win. The freebies are over.”
- cute_dalu: “With everything that happened, I didn’t think she would win.”

This defeat follows another political setback for Daniels. In 2022, she contested the PDP primary for the Aniocha South Constituency in Delta State but secured only one vote.
