Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, faced hostility while performing in Abuja on December 7 at Delphino Picnic behind the Abuja Velodrome.
A video obtained by Naija News showed some members of the audience booing him and throwing objects at the stage, disrupting his performance. The incident occurred while he performed “ACL” from his October album No Excuses, alongside fellow artists Runtown and Duncan Mighty.
The disruptions may have stemmed from his previous conflict with colleague Odumodublvck or recent online remarks. Despite the tense moments, Blaqbonez remained composed and later shared updates thanking fans and reflecting on the performance.
Commenting on the incident, he tweeted, “Thought they could stop me from doing ACL, I gave them 3 times 😂.”
The incident sparked widespread reactions from fans:
- Nedafor: “No one deserves to be treated like that on stage, even if you don’t like their music.”
- makyosu: “Fans should respect artistes. Throwing objects is unacceptable.”
- Tundeoguns: “Maybe the performance didn’t match the crowd, but violence is never the answer.”
- Sadebayo: “Blaqbonez has the right to perform without fear of attacks from the audience.”
- manueleze: “Audience behaviour like this shows a lack of maturity and respect for entertainers.”
- ngozikachi: “Disliking a song is fine, but disrupting a show and throwing things is crossing the line.”
- ifeanyiukwu: “Artistes put in hard work to perform; fans should support, not attack.”
The incident highlights the need for audiences to respect performers and maintain decorum during live shows.
