1. Supreme Court Ruling On Rivers Emergency Is a ‘Dangerous Twist to Democracy’ – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sounded the alarm over the Supreme Court’s ruling on the President’s emergency powers, warning that its interpretation could pose serious threats to Nigeria’s democratic system.

Gossip News Now reports that the party was responding to the apex court’s decision, which upheld the President’s authority to declare a state of emergency and suspend elected officials.

While acknowledging the finality of the Supreme Court’s judgment, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, expressed deep reservations, arguing that the ruling could be exploited to weaken democratic institutions at the state level.

The party warned that construing the judgment as granting the President powers to suspend or remove an elected Governor, Deputy Governor, or State House of Assembly—even temporarily—sets a dangerous precedent.

The PDP maintained that, under the Constitution, only a State House of Assembly or a competent court of law has the authority to remove a Governor within the tenure of office.

2. We Are Loyal Only To Our Mandate – EFCC Responds To Atiku, Peter Obi, Others

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed allegations that it is being used by the ruling elite to target opposition politicians.

In a statement released on Monday via its official 𝕏 account, the anti-graft agency stressed that it remains committed solely to its statutory mandate of fighting corruption.

The EFCC insisted that its operations are carried out without regard to political affiliation, adding that all individuals are treated equally under the law.

The response followed a joint statement by some opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, who accused the EFCC, the Nigeria Police and other state institutions of being deployed for “selective justice” aimed at weakening opposition voices and undermining Nigeria’s multiparty democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Rejecting the claims, the EFCC maintained that its focus is strictly on combating corruption, not persecuting opposition politicians.

To support its position, the Commission noted that it has arrested and prosecuted suspects drawn from both the ruling party and opposition parties, as well as non-political actors.

The EFCC further warned that it would not yield to what it described as blackmail, and cautioned opposition politicians against attempting to discredit the agency or mislead Nigerians about its role.

3. Buhari Made A Major Error – Dangote Explains Why Nigeria’s Refineries Attract No Investors

Africa’s richest man and President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has stated that Nigeria’s business and regulatory environment discourages investors from buying the country’s state-owned refineries operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited.

Gossip News Now reports that Dangote made the remarks during a press briefing held on Sunday in Lagos, stressing that even if the government decides to sell the refineries, there would be little or no investor interest.

According to him, the prevailing operating and regulatory framework in Nigeria’s oil sector makes refinery investments unattractive.

He said, “The bigger issue is that nobody will come to invest in this kind of setup. Even if NNPC decides to sell the refineries today, there will be no buyer because the environment is not conducive for anyone to commit capital to building or running a refinery.”

Dangote further criticised the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as a costly misstep to appoint a trader as a regulator in the oil sector, a move he said resulted in regulatory mismanagement.

4. ‘I’m Coming To Nigeria To Slap You’ – Bobrisky Blasts Peller Over Suicide Attempt Claims Following Breakup With Jarvis

Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has reacted strongly to the controversy surrounding TikTok creator Peller, following reports of a car crash linked to emotional distress over his relationship with Jarvis.

Gossip News Now reports that Bobrisky, in a post shared on his Instagram page, criticised Peller’s actions, describing them as reckless and unnecessary.

He questioned why relationship challenges would push the influencer into decisions capable of endangering his life and damaging his property, particularly after recently acquiring a new vehicle.

Bobrisky further claimed he knew someone he believed would be a better match for Peller and advised him against jeopardising his future over heartbreak.

He urged the TikTok star to think clearly and stop allowing emotional issues to dictate his actions.

The internet personality also used the opportunity to advise young people to prioritise self-worth in relationships, stressing that while love is important, self-respect and personal well-being should always come first.

5. Inter Miami Sign Sergio Reguilón On Multi-Year Contract

Inter Miami have officially completed the signing of Spanish left-back Sergio Reguilón, with the defender putting pen to paper on a deal that runs until December 2027, including an option to extend until December 2028.

The 28-year-old joins the MLS side as a free agent following his most recent stint with Tottenham Hotspur and will take up an international roster slot. His arrival bolsters Inter Miami’s defensive options as the club continues to reinforce its squad ahead of upcoming campaigns.

Reacting to the move, Reguilón described Inter Miami as an ambitious and competitive project.

“It’s a very ambitious project, a winning club that is doing things the right way. That’s what attracted me. I came here to keep winning, compete, and go after the trophies we’re missing. I want to win everything here,” he said.

Reguilón brings extensive top-flight experience, having made over 260 senior appearances across his career, including 81 outings in the Premier League and 56 in LaLiga.

He has also featured in major competitions such as the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

6. Akinsanmiro Breaks Into Tears After AFCON Call-Up, Reflects On Tough Journey To Super Eagles

Super Eagles midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro has opened up on the emotions that followed his first-ever invitation to the Nigerian senior national team, describing it as an unexpected reward after years of hardship, doubt and perseverance.

The Pisa FC midfielder, who is on the books of Inter Milan, earned a spot in Nigeria’s 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. For Akinsanmiro, the selection represented the realisation of a dream that once seemed far out of reach.

Speaking to NFF TV, the 20-year-old admitted he was overwhelmed by the news, especially after missing out on earlier opportunities due to injury.

“I honestly wasn’t expecting it,” he said. “I was first called up during the World Cup qualifiers, but I got injured. So when I saw the invitation this time, I called someone close to me and started crying because it had been a dream for so long.”

Akinsanmiro revealed that playing for the Super Eagles had always been a lifelong ambition, one he pursued through Nigeria’s youth teams without immediate success.

“I have been trying to play for the national team since the U17 and U20 levels. At some point, I felt maybe I wasn’t good enough. But I told myself to keep pushing and give my best, hoping that one day I would get the call,” he added.

His path to the top has been far from easy. Growing up with limited access to live football, Akinsanmiro said he developed his passion for the game more through playing than watching.

7. Bigiano Says He Wrote Davido’s Hit Track Dami Duro

Nigerian singer Bigiano has claimed authorship of Davido’s breakout hit Dami Duro, stating that he was responsible for writing the hook of the popular song.

Gossip News Now reports that the Shayo crooner made the disclosure during a recent interview with content creator Akin Abolade, where he reflected on his music career, his time away from the spotlight, and his contribution to one of Davido’s earliest successes.

Bigiano explained that his creative input played a significant role in the success of the 2011 release, a track widely credited with propelling Davido into mainstream recognition.

“I wrote Dami Duro for Davido. I wrote the hook,” Bigiano said during the interview.

Despite the claim, Bigiano is not officially listed as a co-writer on the song.

Nigeria’s headline inflation rate continued its downward trend in November 2025, easing to 14.45 per cent year on year, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The report, published on the NBS website on Monday, indicated that although consumer prices still rose on a monthly basis, the annual inflation figure moderated significantly under the new base year.

Data from the NBS showed that the Consumer Price Index climbed to 130.5 points in November 2025, up from 128.9 points in October, reflecting a 1.6-point month-on-month increase.

Despite this monthly rise, the headline inflation rate dropped to 14.45 per cent year on year, down from the 16.05 per cent recorded in October 2025.

9. Insecurity: Police Set To Resume Enforcement Of Tinted Glass Permit

The Nigeria Police Force has announced plans to resume the enforcement of the tinted glass permit nationwide, pending the final outcome of ongoing court proceedings on the matter.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin.

According to him, the decision forms part of measures to curb the growing insecurity across the country, following findings that some individuals and criminal networks have been exploiting the suspension of tinted glass permit enforcement to perpetrate crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent offences.

Hundeyin revealed that enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit will officially resume on January 2, 2026.

The statement further clarified that at no point did any court order restrain the Nigeria Police Force from enforcing the tinted glass permit law. Rather, enforcement was voluntarily suspended to allow motorists time to comply. However, in light of prevailing security challenges, the police said enforcement must resume while awaiting the court’s final determination.

10. Coalition With Buhari Delivered Historic Victory That Unseated an Incumbent President – Tinubu

According to Gossip News Now, Buhari, Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) jointly mobilised forces to challenge Jonathan’s bid for re-election in 2015.

Tinubu made the remarks at the launch of Buhari’s authorised biography, From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari, held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
