The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has clarified reports suggesting that the party was set to conduct state and local government congresses to elect new members, describing the publication as false.

In a joint statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the ADC Chairmen’s Forum, Hon. Kingsley Temitope Ogga (Kogi State Chairman) and Hon. Kennedy Odion (Edo State Chairman), the party confirmed a meeting with National Chairman Senator David Mark on Monday.

The forum expressed shock that the widely circulated notice was forged and did not originate from the party leadership.

“During the meeting, the National Chairman stated categorically that the publication calling for state and local government congresses, which appeared in one newspaper, did not come from his office. He further confirmed that he neither authorized nor had prior knowledge of the document, and that it was unknown to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party,” the statement read.

The ADC Chairmen’s Forum advised all stakeholders to ignore the notice, emphasizing that the party has no plans to hold state or local government congresses at this time.

“Therefore, the publication is illegal, invalid, and of no effect whatsoever, and should be completely disregarded. All party members, stakeholders, and the general public are hereby advised to disregard the publication,” the statement added.

The forum concluded by reaffirming their loyalty to the current leadership: “We wish to reiterate our unalloyed loyalty to the Senator David Mark-led National Working Committee and our commitment to the party’s success in all upcoming elections, including the 2027 general elections.”
