A member of the House of Representatives from Kano State and leader of the Northern caucus in the Green Chamber, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has declared that loyalists of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari will continue to “speak truth to power” to promote accountability within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the 2027 general elections approach.
Gossip News Now reports that Doguwa made the remarks on Wednesday in Abuja during the public presentation of a book titled Headlines and Soundbites: Media Moments that Defined an Administration, authored by former Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.
The lawmaker emphasised that loyalty to the ruling party does not translate to blind support, noting that Buhari’s supporters would continue to highlight areas needing improvement to ensure the APC remains connected to the people.
He said constructive criticism is essential to prevent voter dissatisfaction in future elections.
“We will keep telling those in government the right things to do for the people, so that when election time comes, we won’t be faced with difficult questions at the polls,” Doguwa stated.
‘Buhari Died A Proud APC Member’
Doguwa stressed that Buhari remained a committed member of the APC until his death and never renounced his membership, describing this as a guiding principle for his loyalists, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
“For us in the North, we will continue to align with the APC and the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria because our leader died as a proud member of this party,” he said.
He added that Buhari’s loyalists within government would continue to uphold the former president’s legacy of service, especially to the poor and vulnerable.
Doguwa also noted that Northern Nigeria would remain politically united, with religious and traditional leaders playing key roles in mobilising citizens for meaningful participation in governance.
The event was attended by several prominent political and traditional figures, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde; former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris; and former Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.
Others present were former National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno (retd.); former presidential spokesman, Segun Adeniyi, who reviewed the book; the Emir of Argungu; as well as representatives of the Sultan of Sokoto and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
