Award-winning Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has officially joined the Accord Party, signaling a clear political alignment with his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The singer made the announcement on Tuesday through his verified 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) account, where he revealed plans to travel to Osogbo to formally receive his Accord Party membership card.
“I’ll be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card at Imole House, Osogbo, tomorrow. See you soon, ACCORDINGLY,” Davido posted, tagging Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Davido’s declaration comes just weeks after Governor Adeleke officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party, adopting it as his new political platform.
The Osun governor announced his defection on December 9, 2025, during a well-attended event at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo, with top national and state leaders of the Accord Party present.
His move marked a significant political shift in Osun State, as he declared his intention to seek a second term under the Accord Party’s banner.
Governor Adeleke explained that his decision to leave the PDP was driven by unresolved leadership crises at the party’s national level. He disclosed that he formally joined the Accord Party on November 6 after extensive consultations with political stakeholders and opinion leaders across the state.
According to the governor, the switch was necessary to protect his re-election bid and maintain political stability in Osun State.
Davido had earlier fueled speculation about his political stance when he reacted to his uncle’s resignation from the PDP by reposting the announcement online with a cryptic caption, “Jeje…”.
His latest announcement now confirms his full political backing of the Osun governor as momentum builds toward the 2026 governorship race.
