Transfer Update: Valencia Target Free-Agent Emmanuel Dennis Awoniyi Linked With Bundesliga Return

La Liga outfit Valencia are reportedly considering a January move for Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis as they look to reinforce their attacking options in the second half of the season.

Dennis is currently a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest during the summer transfer window. The 28-year-old attacker has since been on the radar of several clubs, with Spanish publication Fichajes claiming that Valencia are keen on bringing him in.

Highly regarded for his ability to operate across the frontline, Dennis can play as a central striker or on either wing. His availability on a free transfer is said to make the deal particularly attractive for Valencia as they plan their January recruitment.

In a related development, another Nigerian striker at Nottingham Forest, Taiwo Awoniyi, could also be on the move, with reports linking him to a return to the German Bundesliga.

According to Kicker, struggling Bundesliga side Mainz are weighing up a January approach for Awoniyi as they search for goals while rooted to the bottom of the league table.

Awoniyi previously spent the 2019–2020 season on loan at Mainz from Liverpool, where he scored once in 12 league appearances. A return to the club would see him reunite with coach Urs Fischer, who later played a key role in his permanent transfer to Union Berlin in 2021.

The Nigerian international has found opportunities limited at Forest this season, sitting behind Chris Wood and Igor Jesus in the striking hierarchy. With just five league appearances so far, a January move could provide the fresh start he needs to get his campaign back on track.
