Jake Paul Offers Support After Anthony Joshua Survives Tragic Ogun Road Accident

American YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has sent a message of sympathy and support to Anthony Joshua following a fatal road accident involving the British-Nigerian heavyweight star in Ogun State.

The crash occurred on Monday, December 29, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as Joshua travelled with friends who had joined him in Nigeria for the New Year holidays. The incident claimed the lives of two members of his close team.

The victims, identified as Latif—popularly known as Latz—and Sina, were part of Joshua’s inner circle. Latif served as his personal trainer, while Sina was his strength and conditioning coach. Both men were seated in the front of the vehicle at the time of the crash. Joshua, who was seated in the back, survived the accident but sustained injuries.

Reacting to the tragic development, Jake Paul took to social media platform 𝕏 to express his condolences and emphasize the importance of life over sport.

“Life is much more important than boxing,” Paul wrote. “I am praying for the lives lost, for AJ, and for everyone affected by today’s unfortunate accident.”

Paul’s message came just days after his highly publicised bout with Joshua on December 19. The heavyweight contest, held in Miami, ended in a one-sided victory for Joshua, who reportedly broke Paul’s jaw in two places before sealing the fight with a sixth-round knockout.

Despite the rivalry inside the ring, Paul’s reaction highlighted mutual respect and humanity beyond the sport in the face of tragedy.
