Several residents have reportedly been kidnapped by suspected gunmen along Omi-Odo Ara Road in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to SaharaReporters, the attack occurred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The exact number of victims and their identities remain unconfirmed at the time of reporting.

Residents confirmed that security agencies were promptly alerted following the incident, and people in nearby communities were advised to exercise caution, limit unnecessary movement, and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

Gossip News Now reports that this latest abduction comes just a day after a separate attack in the Odo-Ere community within the same local government area. That previous incident, which took place on Sunday night, involved heavily armed assailants who abducted at least four residents, identified as Engr. Shina Ajere, Mr. Kehinde Afolabi, Damilola Ogun, and a woman known locally as Iya Lara.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers moved from house to house, firing sporadically, leaving residents in panic. Community platform Egbe Mekun revealed that another apartment was also targeted, showing visible bullet marks, although the gunmen failed to gain entry.

While four abductions have been confirmed, locals fear that more people could have been taken during the operation.

Following the attacks, residents of Odo-Ere and surrounding communities urged security agencies and the Kogi State Government to increase patrols and deploy additional personnel. They also appealed for urgent action to ensure the safe release of those kidnapped and to prevent further incidents.

Odo-Ere and other areas in Yagba West have recently faced repeated armed attacks, highlighting growing insecurity in rural parts of Kogi State.

These incidents coincide with a spate of abductions across Kogi. On Sunday, SaharaReporters reported that a pastor of the Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners’ Chapel) was kidnapped while heading to his farm in Okoro Gbedde, Ijumu Local Government Area. He was later released unharmed after several days in captivity. Reports indicate he was abandoned in Aiyetoro Gbedde, also in Ijumu, and no ransom was reportedly paid.

Residents across the affected areas continue to express fear and frustration, calling on authorities to take decisive measures to curb the rising wave of kidnappings in the state.
