Abducted Kogi Pastor Released After Days in Captivity

Residents of Kogi State have welcomed the safe return of a pastor from Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel, who had been abducted by armed men earlier in the week.

The cleric was kidnapped on Friday, December 27, 2025, while traveling to his farm along the Oke-Offin axis in the Kabba/Bunu area. He was later found unharmed in Aiyetoro Gbedde, located in Ijumu Local Government Area.

Community sources revealed that the pastor’s release was not the result of ransom payment. Reports from local platforms, including Egbe Mekun, confirmed that the captors abandoned him, and no financial transaction was made to secure his freedom.

According to SaharaReporters, the pastor is in good health and is expected to be reunited with his family soon. His abduction occurred when he was riding a commercial motorcycle to his farm. Armed assailants intercepted the vehicle along the route, seizing the pastor while the motorcycle operator escaped without injury.

Eyewitnesses indicated that the attack took place along the Oke-Offin–Okoro Gbedde stretch. The pastor attempted to flee by jumping off the motorcycle but was captured by the gunmen. “The commercial rider was able to flee, but the pastor was captured and taken to an unknown location,” a source stated.

The cleric’s release has brought relief to the local community, which had been increasingly worried about recurring security challenges along rural roads in Kogi State.
