Popular Nigerian singer, Timi Dakolo, has lashed out at a social media user who criticised his public commendation of officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
Dakolo had taken to 𝕏 to applaud the traffic officers, noting that they worked tirelessly throughout the festive period and deserved public recognition for their dedication.
“@followlasma officers, una wehdone… these guys have been working round the clock this December,” the singer wrote.
However, the post triggered backlash from a user who dismissed the praise as unnecessary, comparing it to “clapping for a fish for swimming.”
The comment did not sit well with Dakolo, who responded sharply, questioning whether the critic understood the demands of working long hours. He stressed that individuals who perform difficult tasks deserve to be appreciated when they do well.
“Shut up your stupid mouth. Do you work round the clock? Do you know how hard it is? Applaud people when they do an amazing job,” the musician replied.
Meanwhile, Dakolo has also been in the news over a separate controversy involving President Bola Tinubu’s aide, O’tega Ogra. The singer recently accused Ogra of failing to pay him for a job he claimed to have completed.
In a post on 𝕏, Dakolo publicly called out the presidential aide, urging him to respond.
“Mr @otegaogra, please pick your calls. I did my job,” he wrote.
Responding to the allegation, Ogra said he had taken note of the comments but would not engage further on the matter. He maintained that his professional record is publicly available and speaks for itself.
Ogra further warned that any attempt to personalise the issue would attract formal correction and could lead to professional or legal action.
