Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has officially approved the induction of nine new Permanent Secretaries into the state civil service, a strategic move intended to boost efficiency and enhance the implementation of policies across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
The Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, announced the appointments on Wednesday, noting that the approvals were made under Section 208(c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
Onasanya emphasized that the selection process prioritized merit, professionalism, inclusiveness, and relevant experience within Ogun State’s public service. Each appointee was drawn from a pool of directors who successfully completed the Ogun State Executive Leadership Development Pipeline Programme, designed to ensure leadership continuity and improve MDA performance.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries include:
- Abdul-Azeez Ajidele – Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Justice
- Olufunmilayo Soyoye-Baker – Director of Agriculture & State Coordinating Director, Cash Transfer Unit
- Adebimpe Obienu – Director, Public Prosecution, Ministry of Justice
- Kafayat Lawal – Executive Secretary, Alternate Medicine Board
- Ahmed Adetona – Director, Audit, Office of the Auditor-General (State)
- Idowu Onasanya – Director, Administration and Supplies, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs
- Olalekan Taiwo – Director, Payment, State Treasury Office
- Akintomiwa Osibodu – Director, Administration and Supplies, Teaching Service Commission
- Kehinde Akintomide – Director, Industrial Promotion, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment
In addition, Governor Abiodun approved appointments within the education sector, including two Principals-General and four Headteachers-General, to fill key vacancies in the Teaching Service Commission and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
The Principals-General are Matthew Adeyinka Osilesi (Remo Division) and Yakubu Olorunyomi Lamidi (Ijebu Division). The newly appointed Headteachers-General include:
- Benjamin Alonge – Ijebu Division
- Aminat Busari – Remo Division
- Olusegun Akapo – Yewa Division
- Folake Onabanjo – Egba Division
Onasanya confirmed that the education appointees were carefully chosen from a previously shortlisted pool, following a rigorous evaluation and screening process.
He urged all appointees, both in the civil service and education sector, to honor the confidence placed in them by demonstrating dedication, selflessness, and commitment in their respective roles, ensuring enhanced service delivery across Ogun State.
