The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Dr. Nname Robinson Ewor, the Rivers State Caretaker Committee Chairman, over reported links with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The party disclosed the disciplinary measure following an emergency meeting on Saturday, January 3, 2026. Ewor was removed from his roles as both Chairman and member of the Caretaker Committee, with officials citing behavior deemed detrimental to the unity and stability of the Rivers State PDP.

In the leadership adjustment, Chief Ogbam Ojimah, previously the committee’s Secretary, has been appointed Acting Chairman, while Dr. Baribefu Fidunko assumes the role of Acting Secretary.

Addressing journalists, Ojimah stated that Ewor effectively forfeited his position by publicly aligning with Wike, who remains expelled from the PDP. “Such conduct is inconsistent with the party’s principles and directives,” he said, emphasizing that the committee remains loyal to the national leadership under Dr. Kabiru Turaki.

Ojimah also clarified that the Rivers PDP has formally dissociated itself from all statements and actions attributed to Ewor, reinforcing that Wike holds no sway over party affairs following his expulsion.

The resolutions from the emergency meeting instructed members to disregard any public comments made by Ewor and confirmed that no engagement with the former chairman should continue.

Finally, the Rivers PDP reaffirmed its commitment to rebuilding the party in the state and pledged full support to the Turaki-led national leadership ahead of upcoming elections.
