With the 2027 general elections on the horizon, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has unveiled a renewed political direction centered on security, economic revitalization, and expanded regional dominance.
In a New Year address delivered on January 2, 2026, APGA’s National Vice Chairman for the South-East Zone, Augustine Ehiemere, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to strengthening its grassroots base while positioning itself as a stabilizing force in Nigerian politics.
Ehiemere highlighted the party’s determination to confront insecurity across the South-East and the country at large. He referenced ongoing challenges such as terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities that have disrupted daily life and economic progress. According to him, APGA is already implementing strategic measures aimed at restoring order and protecting communities.
“Our objective is straightforward,” he stated. “We are committed to bringing back peace, improving security, and rebuilding economic stability in both the South-East and Nigeria as a whole.”
He also pointed to APGA’s internal cohesion as a key advantage, contrasting it with the leadership struggles and divisions affecting rival political parties. Ehiemere credited party loyalists for sustaining what he described as one of the most stable and community-driven political movements in the region.
Looking ahead to 2027, the APGA leader expressed optimism about broadening the party’s footprint beyond its traditional stronghold of Anambra State. He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s performance, describing it as evidence of APGA’s capacity to deliver effective governance.
Ehiemere revealed that the party has its sights set on expanding into Abia State and reclaiming influence across the entire South-East. He attributed this ambition to growing public support and strategic planning under the leadership of National Chairman Sly Ezeokenwa.
Encouraging unity and sustained commitment, he called on members to remain steadfast as the electoral cycle approaches, emphasizing that APGA intends to play a decisive role in shaping the region’s political future.
