AC Milan have strengthened their attacking options with the signing of German international Niclas Füllkrug on loan from West Ham United. The Serie A side also hold the option to make the move permanent at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 campaign.

The 32-year-old forward has already linked up with his new teammates and is in contention ahead of Milan’s upcoming league fixture against Cagliari on Friday. He will wear the iconic No. 9 shirt and is expected to add strength and aerial presence to Massimiliano Allegri’s system, which has frequently relied on Christian Pulisic as part of a two-man frontline in a 3-5-2 formation.

Milan currently sit second in Serie A, just one point behind rivals Inter Milan. The Rossoneri have been in outstanding domestic form, going unbeaten in 15 league matches since their opening-day loss to Cremonese, and view Füllkrug as an important addition in their pursuit of the title.

Füllkrug arrived at West Ham before the 2024–2025 season following a standout spell at Borussia Dortmund. During his time in Germany, he played a pivotal role in Dortmund’s run to the UEFA Champions League final and started the showpiece clash against Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium.

However, his time in the Premier League proved challenging. West Ham endured managerial instability, appointing three different permanent managers over the course of the season. Füllkrug managed just three league goals in 26 appearances overall.

He scored twice in nine matches under Julen Lopetegui and added one goal in 13 appearances during Graham Potter’s tenure. After Nuno Espírito Santo took charge in September, his involvement became even more limited, with only two league outings totaling 178 minutes before the club approved his move to Italy.

The switch to Milan now offers the experienced striker a fresh opportunity to rediscover his best form at a club competing at the top of Italian football.
