Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has dismissed any concerns over former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, entering the race for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in 2027.
Through her Special Adviser on Media, Mike Idoko, the lawmaker expressed openness to competing again, emphasizing that Bello’s decision does not intimidate her.
“We don’t see it as a threat. In fact, we are happy that he wants to contest. We are waiting for them,” Idoko quoted Akpoti-Uduaghan as saying.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who currently represents Kogi Central in the Senate, secured the seat in 2023 following a prolonged legal contest. She also holds the distinction of being the first woman to serve as senator for the district.
Bello reportedly announced his interest during a visit to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, where he met with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other community stakeholders. A video of the visit was later shared on his verified Facebook page.
Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, alongside other top political figures, attended the gathering, where supporters encouraged Bello to represent the district in the National Assembly in 2027.
