Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has expressed confidence and composure regarding former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello’s intention to run for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in 2027.

Speaking through her Special Adviser on Media, Mike Idoko, the lawmaker emphasized that Bello’s entry into the race does not intimidate her and reaffirmed her readiness to compete.

“We don’t see it as a threat. In fact, we are happy that he wants to contest. We are waiting for them,” Idoko quoted Akpoti-Uduaghan as saying.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, the current senator for Kogi Central, won the seat in 2023 after a protracted legal battle. She also holds the distinction of being the first woman to represent the district in the Senate.

Reports indicate that Bello declared his interest during a visit to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, engaging with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other community stakeholders. Footage of the visit was later shared on his verified Facebook page.

The gathering was attended by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and other prominent political figures, as supporters rallied behind Bello, encouraging him to vie for the National Assembly seat in 2027.
