Rivers State’s political dynamics continue to evolve as Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu has formally defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), reinforcing the growing momentum of the ruling party in the state.

Odu completed her registration in Akabuka Town, Ward 8, Unit 11, located in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area. The exercise marked her official departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Moments after finalizing her membership process, the deputy governor joined her supporters in singing “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand,” a popular chant strongly associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The gesture drew noticeable reactions from APC faithful present at the event.

Her move follows closely behind that of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who recently left the PDP to join the APC after a high-profile meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Fubara’s formal registration into the ruling party was overseen by Rivers APC Chairman Tony Okocha, acting under instructions from the party’s national leadership.

In a further sign of the shifting power structure within the state, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has since recognized Governor Fubara as the party’s leader in Rivers State, highlighting the scale of the ongoing political realignment in the oil-producing region.
