Nigerian rapper Oladips has publicly reconciled with his former label boss, Reminisce, bringing an end to years of tension marked by public disagreements, pointed lyrics and strained industry relations.
According to reports, Oladips used his latest track, Iba Paris 26, to admit fault and express remorse over how their professional relationship deteriorated.
In the song, the rapper revealed that he had made several attempts in the past to reach Reminisce privately but was unsuccessful, prompting him to turn to music as his final avenue to speak openly and seek peace.
“I tried to make contact severally but it didn’t work. This is me saying it openly,” Oladips said in the track.
Oladips began his music career under LRR/EDGE Records, a label owned by Reminisce. The partnership initially appeared promising before gradually breaking down.
By 2019, Oladips had gone public with claims that he struggled financially while still signed to the label, despite releasing songs that performed well. He also alleged that his efforts to exit the label were blocked, a situation that further deepened the rift.
The dispute soon spilled into the public space through interviews, social media posts and music releases. Oladips removed all references to the label from his online platforms and dropped tracks that many listeners interpreted as veiled attacks on Reminisce.
While Reminisce largely avoided engaging in public exchanges, fans continued to sense unresolved tension between the two artistes.
The feud resurfaced in 2022 after certain lyrics from Reminisce were believed to be directed at former signees. Oladips responded through his music, prolonging what became one of the most drawn-out disputes in Nigerian hip-hop.
Over the years, Oladips has also spoken about how the conflict affected his career trajectory and influenced how other artistes related with him in the industry.
However, his latest release suggests a shift in perspective. Oladips appears more composed and introspective, explaining that personal growth, life experiences and challenges have reshaped his outlook, leading him to choose peace over prolonged conflict.
