The traditional leader of Torusarama Piri in Rivers State, Asari Dokubo, has publicly confirmed his backing for President Bola Tinubu as he seeks a second term in the 2027 presidential election.

According to reports from Gossip News Now, Dokubo made this declaration on Tuesday during a courtesy visit from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, at his palace in Degema Local Government Area.

Dokubo explained that his endorsement is rooted in the personal support and loyalty Tinubu extended to him during critical moments of his life. He emphasized that backing the President’s reelection represents a gesture of gratitude.

He stated, “As you rightly pointed out, my friend, I will stand with you in ensuring that the President succeeds. Everything within my power will be done to support him.”

Reflecting on their long-standing relationship, Dokubo recounted, “When we first met in 1992, I was not yet a traditional ruler. I never imagined I would rise to where I am today. He stood by me during my toughest moments, and now it is my turn to stand by him and give him my support.”

During the visit, Wike highlighted that his engagement with the community was primarily to convey appreciation to the people for their continued support and to outline reasons for rallying behind President Tinubu in the upcoming election cycle.

Acknowledging Dokubo’s hospitality, Wike remarked, “I understand that traditional rulers do not engage in partisan politics. However, you are my friend, and it would have been inappropriate for me to be in your domain without greeting you and wishing you a happy new year.”
