Crystal Palace Open To Marc Guehi Exit If Valuation Met This January

Crystal Palace have indicated they could allow captain Marc Guehi to leave Selhurst Park during the January transfer window, provided the club receives an offer that meets their valuation. Manchester City have reportedly expressed strong interest following defensive injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias.

Guehi, 25, is entering the final months of his contract, meaning he could potentially leave on a free transfer this summer. Last year, the club turned down a £35 million bid from Liverpool, but the situation has shifted as the financial stakes grow. Manager Oliver Glasner acknowledged the balance between sporting ambitions and financial reality: “I’m not naive. If a massive offer comes from City and Marc wants to do it, it will happen.”

The defender has been integral to Palace’s recent successes, including captaining the side to a 12th-place league finish, winning the FA Cup, and qualifying for European competition for the first time. The Eagles also secured the Community Shield in August by defeating Liverpool on penalties. Despite this, Palace currently sit 14th in the Premier League and are competing in the UEFA Conference League knockout play-offs.

Glasner emphasized that while the sporting side favors keeping Guehi, the financial considerations are significant. “If you’re purely looking at the sporting side, everyone will agree Marc should stay. But the financial situation is very important,” he said. The manager further noted that pre-contract agreements can be signed with overseas clubs this month, giving Guehi leverage over his future.

Interest in Guehi extends beyond England, with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid reportedly monitoring the defender for a potential free transfer this summer. However, German journalist Christian Falk reports Bayern are unlikely to act in January, focusing instead on extending Dayot Upamecano’s expiring contract.

Palace’s chairman has previously rejected offers for Guehi, prioritizing the team’s performance and trophy ambitions. Glasner reflected on this: “The chairman rejected many offers in the summer because we wanted a successful season and the Community Shield. Marc is important, and at that time, the money offered didn’t exceed our threshold.”
