The ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) membership e-registration exercise in Zamfara State has sparked controversy after Aminu Sani Jaji, a senior party leader, raised allegations of exclusion and manipulation.
Jaji, head of the Jajiyya Political Movement, claimed that former governor Abdulaziz Yari and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, orchestrated the registration process to favor specific factions. He further alleged that the APC National Organising Secretary colluded with them to deliberately shut out his group and the state’s Organising Secretary, Bashir Ahmad Gusau.
Highlighting the implications of such actions, Jaji warned that undermining fairness and internal democracy could destabilize APC structures in Zamfara. Drawing parallels to events before the 2019 general elections, he noted that similar tactics were reportedly used to marginalize former governor Ahmed Sani Yeriman Bakura, weakening the party during that period.
Jaji urged the APC national leadership to carry out an unbiased investigation into the matter and impose sanctions on any officials found guilty of anti-democratic practices. He also called for clear procedural guidelines to guarantee that the e-registration adheres fully to the APC constitution and operational standards.
In addition, he appealed to journalists and independent observers to monitor the process closely, reiterating that his faction remains committed to transparency, accountability, and respect for due process within the party.
