The Kano State Police Command has arrested two men linked to the armed robbery and violent attack on Nigerian rapper Keshinro Ololade, popularly known as Lil Kesh.

The suspects, Mathew Adewole (25) and Mukhtar Muhammad (31), were tracked and apprehended at Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano, on September 11, 2025, following weeks of intelligence-led surveillance.

Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna confirmed the arrests, revealing that Adewole confessed to breaking into Lil Kesh’s Lagos residence at Bera Estate, Chevron, on August 19, 2025. During the attack, the rapper sustained a severe neck injury in what investigators described as an attempted murder.

Further investigations showed that Adewole forced the artist to transfer ₦2.12 million to Muhammad’s bank account before fleeing.

“The Kano State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough in a case of armed robbery and attempted murder, made possible through robust intelligence and community collaboration,” Haruna said.

The suspects have since been transferred to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised his officers’ swift action and urged continued public cooperation, emphasizing that the Command remains committed to supporting the Inspector General of Police’s drive to curb violent crime nationwide.
