The brother of late Nollywood actress Allwell Ademola has issued a public apology to actress Iyabo Ojo, following previous comments he made in the aftermath of his sister’s death.
Gossip News Now reports that the apology was delivered on Thursday, January 8, 2026, during the Service of Songs held in honour of the late actress.
While speaking directly to Iyabo Ojo at the event, he asked her not to take offence, clarifying that his earlier remarks were not intended for her.
“Please ma, don’t be offended. I did not mean to abuse you; I was not referring to you at all,” he told her.
The apology came after a video he shared online in December 2025, in which he criticised several Nollywood actors and actresses for their response to Allwell Ademola’s passing. In that video, he accused some colleagues of being insincere in their tributes, suggesting they only expressed affection after her death and failed to support her while she was alive.
He further claimed that many who called themselves her friends had not promoted her movie Eniobanke during its release. He also pointed out that despite Allwell’s support for numerous colleagues, she did not always receive the same backing in return.
The late actress’ brother added that during the production of Jagun Jagun, no one reached out to offer her roles or assistance. He also highlighted that some actors—including Iyabo Ojo—had previously used the family home as a filming location but did not stand by Allwell during her struggles.
“Those who could not support her while she was alive should not pretend to be loyal after her death,” he said.
In response, Iyabo Ojo publicly defended her record, stating that she supported Allwell Ademola during her lifetime. She revealed that she had featured in several of the late actress’ productions without collecting payment, while also offering financial and emotional support to help Allwell build her career as a producer and director.
Allwell Ademola, remembered as a popular Yoruba actress, producer, and director, continues to be honoured for her contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
